Champions & Runners Up
May 23rd 2012, 28 degrees, the hottest day of the year so far, and the day of the Frank McAvennie football tournament hosted by Football For Fans at Upton Park.
Like the past couple of years Impact entered our Monday night 7-aside team into the tournament, but this year we also entered a 2nd team allowing some of our clients to join in the fun too.
The day as always ran smoothly and both Impact teams enjoyed success both winning 2 games a piece, losing one and then drawing with each other in the head to head final game. The draw meant that both teams were equal on points and just like the premiership recently – it went down to goal difference. Impact Media 7′s took the glory on this occasion, but what a great finish to a great day.
We would like to thank all the players on both teams for taking part and also Jeff and Tony at Football For Fans for running yet another fantastic day.
Here’s how the day happened, fixtures, results and scorers. Then a few action shots, the remainder of the photos taken on the day can be seen on our Facebook Page or by clicking here.

The final game of the tournament was the head to head clash, both teams knowing that a win would lift the trophy, and when Impact Media scored first they thought it was going to be easy, but Double Impact kept their boys at bay and in the closing minutes of the game, Martyn Guest saw the Impact Media keeper off his line and went for a David Beckham style lob. Without the goal, Double Impact would have finished third through other results, but this result actually work best for both teams – although Double Impact would have preferred the win!
Once again we would like to thank all the players from Double Impact and hopefully we would like to see you again next year. Players and their positions were:
